Parable for today

There was a vagabond who traveled from country to country.

When one day while fending for food a man approached him and offered him a meal.

He was delighted to sit with this newfound friend who he felt genuine kinship with.

The meal was simple but special it was this man who broke bread with him that made this a banquette, he was kind, compassionate, gentle, joyful and made him feel welcome.

In fact this man was out right loving.

After dinner he was asked to stay and live in this kingdom that his seeking was over.

Who are you asked the vagabond?

I am the King.

He could not believe his ears nor his eyes… a king dressed like an ordinary man.

A loving King… who personally asked me to live here with Him.

Who invited me to dinner, his head reeled with the many thoughts.

How could he say no?

Why would he say no?

He had never met a person in government much less a king.

He was overwhelmed with thankfulness and said yes.

The search for peace had come to an end.

The King promised all His citizens that if they were as loving as He they could and would live in this Kingdom for ever.

As time went on the excitement waned he found the food in this region not as good as other places he had been and he longed for those things he missed and was without.

He met others that were of the same feeling for different wants and sill others who wanted to marry some one who did not want to live here, there were many who had other longings and desires.

When he inquired they told him how they left the kingdom on a regular basis to obtain what they desired.

How some left to marry with the hope of returning. Some even bragged that they spent more time out of the Kingdom then in.

The King has warned us of the dangers of travel outside but He does not seem to mind too much. We are always welcome back.

It seems He never misses us.

Once while our vagabond was leaving one of the good citizens questioned him.

Is not the life here good enough?

Are you not happy with our King?

Why risk something happening under a different rulers land who knows what you will have to pay in punishment out side this kingdom.

And for just a morsel of food… or is your selfish want greater then the Kings love.

Think man… is not the love of the King enough for you?

The vagabond replied our King would come for me and protect me… He is that loving.

But He warned you in these events you have chosen to leave His rule and you’d be on your own.

He stopped just long enough to consider the possibility of the terrible consequences… was it worth it?

Then turned to you reading this and said… tell me, why do you do it?
