Clouds…
The beauty of clouds is often enhanced by the reflection of the golden red of the setting sun. Yet the endless size and shapes from wisps to bellows and the many combinations in-between are dazzling in and of themselves. The real issue is in how many of earth’s citizens actually look at the clouds. Do we have cause only to recognize them, when they block the rays of the sun; we so desire to see blazing in the sky. Have we lost the ability to detect from their size and height their type and are they rain bearing. We use weather forecasts now replacing our vision and senses to determine if it will rain. We have allowed speculation to fill a need, having someone to inform us, of the conditions and probability of the approaching weather. The sad part is that forecaster’s are to often wrong. But society and the Church which is not much different in it’s weather detecting habits, have a distorted view of trusting in a system that they berate and poke fun at for its constant error, yet use diligently every day. The weather, one of the basic topics of choice of our informal conversations; is based on a system of dubious consistency of our own admission. Weather being a
foundational means of our choice of dress, of our mode of travel or
even curtailing it; our greeting “Nice day”; our small talk and
even setting our emotional and mental disposition. Who do we trust and why? Questions so basic in view of our scattered unconscious appeal to weather conditions that go unasked. Jesus said “"When
you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, `It's going
to rain,' and it does. And when the south wind blows, you say, `It's
going to be hot,' and it is. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the
appearance of the earth and the sky. Is it because you trust someone other than yourself (more succinctly the Holy Spirit in you) to tell you the weather report? Your eternal life
is in question!
